Decision Making

An ass, placed exactly in the middle between two stacks of hay of equal size and quality, starved to death since it could not make any rational decision to start eating one rather than the other.
- Johannes Buridanus

Changing a career and the job search process can be a very hard challenge. First, you need to decide whether you want to continue in a similar career or you are looking for a total change. Second, you need to decide where you want to work and find out what skills you have and what skills you will need to have. It would be useful to consider the skills you have and reflect on how these skills could be applied in your new career. The next step would be to decide how you are going to find your ideal job that will make your life more fulfilling. Make a career action plan. A good career action plan is your road to success.

Make a SMART Action Plan

Your career action plan is a roadmap to your future. Get started by setting yourself goals which are SMART:

S
pecific; Measurable; Achievable; Realistic; Timely.

Specific – Discover and improve your specific potential job skills.
Measurable – Gain skills that lead to internationally recognized requirements.
Achievable – Expand skills that must get you your ideal job.
Realistic – Accomplish your basic preparation related to required job skills in time.
Timely – Have enough time to achieve your goal; give yourself a specific deadline.

You will probably need to conduct some research: read a few journals, books or attend a course.
